Through collaboration with the Ethiopian Seed Partnership, Mercy Corps and ISSD Africa, the Tigray Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resources has launched a Framework for Restoring Seed Security and Agricultural Livelihoods.
The document has been endorsed as providing a solid foundation on which emergency seed responses should be designed and guided. The document spells out the current challenges faced by the Tigrayan seed sector, ranging from conflict and instability to a complex web of environmental and economic factors.
However, the document also spells out significant opportunities on which partners can further collaborate towards increasing seed security.
The process to develop the Guideline saw in-depth discussions with key stakeholders and the adoption of the Ten Principles for Good Seed Aid (10Ps, developed through the ISSD Africa HDP-Nexus programme.
