In its new Seed Response and Seed System Development Guideline document, the Afar Region of Ethiopia has formally adopted the 10 Guiding Principles for Good Seed Aid (10Ps). This milestone is the culmination of extensive dialogue and collaboration between local stakeholders and our partners in the Ethiopian Seed Partnership (ESP) under the leadership of the Afar National Regional State Bureau of Agriculture and Natural Resource Development (BoANRD).
In this strategy, it is hoped the 10Ps will enable a unified approach to seed insecurity and emergency response. The document provides clear guidance on how humanitarian and development partners should engage in seed work in the region in order to ensure that emergency responses and development activities target resilience and supporting local markets.
